DOS Commands

Presenting here some of some DOS Commands which may be helpful for naive users.....

 Label : to change drive name

START: type this in a command prompt and it will open another prompt.........

TEMP : type in RUN and it shows the temporary file.......

DISKPART : type in run or cmd prompt and manage all drive .....u can hide, show etc etc a partition using disk part.......

devmgmt : it shows the device manager(type in run
loop : loopin in pl/sql(prgmin lang)

 paste : pastes da info

echo : command in unix os

 To do anything and everything with your IP address:ipconfig

To give general configured info. of our system: msconfig

 On screen keyboard:osk clear screen:CLRSCR

 ATTRIB : The command is short for ATTRIB -a -h -r - s *.* (removes all attributes of a file).

 DIR ... Lists all directories that do not have extensions.

In Windows 95 / Windows 98 will list the contents of the directories previous to the directory currently in.

FDISK /STATUS Shows you the current status of your hard drives.

 FORMAT /AUTOTEST Formats the hard drive without any prompting. defrag :Defrag the main hard disk drive and correct any fragmented files. erase Deletes one or more files. mem:Displays memory usage.

 CHKDSK CHKDSK [d:][path][filename] [/F][/V] Checks a disk and provides a file and memory status report.

DELTREE (External) DELTREE [/Y] [d:]path [d:]path[...] Deletes (erases) a directory including all files and subdirectories that are in it.

UNFORMAT UNFORMAT d: [/J][/L][/test][/partn][/P][/U] Used to undo the effects of formatting a disk.
